The Encounter
“If you could speak to the one person who understands your silence, what would you say?”
What happens when the girl in the attic meets the boy from Money, Mississippi? In a place beyond time and memory, Anne Frank and Emmett Till find one another.
At Bridge Theatre, we are proud to present Anne & Emmett, a powerful theatrical experience that imagines a conversation between two of history’s most poignant young voices. Through their shared stories, the play creates a “bridge” between the Holocaust and the American Civil Rights Movement, reminding us that while their lives were cut short by hatred, their legacies continue to light the way toward justice.
Why This Story?
Our mission at Bridge Theatre is to “Honor the Past and Perform for the Future.” Anne & Emmett is the heart of that mission. By bringing these two figures together on stage, we invite our audience to move beyond the history books and engage with the humanity, the humor, and the incredible resilience of these two teenagers.
It is a story about the danger of silence—and the transformative power of being heard.
